    About Me

“When Human Resources Meets Human Beings.”

The Professor Dad teaching math to his daughter on a whiteboard while his toddler son watches in their home classroom.
Applying educational theories to my toughest students yet in our multi-purpose home classroom.

Hello! I’m Noeum, an educator and dad writing to you from Cambodia.

By day, I am a Professor of Human Resource Development at Preah Sihanouk Raja Buddhist University, where I have spent over 6 years researching organizational behavior.

Noeum, The Professor Dad, wearing a suit and teaching a university class on Human Resource Development.
My day job: Teaching adults about leadership and organizational growth before heading home to the real chaos.

I spend my hours teaching adults about leadership, conflict resolution, and organizational growth.

But by night (and very early morning), I face my toughest students yet: my two children.

This blog is the story of that collision. If you are looking for a website about a picture-perfect house and children who always sit still, you are in the wrong place. But if you want real-life tips on how to handle mischievous toddlers, negotiate with strong-willed kids, and manage a home that is wonderfully messy, you belong right here.

    Why “The Professor Dad”?

For years, I have taught theories on how humans learn and develop. But when I became a father, I realized something funny: Raising kids is just Human Resource Development in its rawest, loudest, and messiest form.

    • Getting a toddler to eat vegetables? That’s Conflict Negotiation.
    • Helping an 8-year-old organize her homework? That’s Project Management.
    • Explaining why the laundry basket is not a hat? That’s Crisis Logistics.
A toddler hiding underneath an upside-down green laundry basket on a white tiled floor next to pairs of children's shoes at the bottom of a staircase.
Is it a basket? A hat? A turtle shell? To the “Head of Negotiations,” it is whatever he says it is. This is Crisis Logistics in action.

I realized that the skills I teach my adult students are the exact same skills I need to survive dinner time. I started this website to answer one question: Can I apply the science of Human Resource Development to the chaos of raising a family?

That is the experiment behind The Professor Dad: Real theory, real chaos, and very real messes.

    Meet The “Research Team”

This isn’t just a blog; it’s a living laboratory. Here is the team that tests my patience (and my theories) every single day.

    1. The “Assistant Manager” (My Daughter, 8)

She is smart, sharp, and learning to be a leader. She helps me test educational tools and strategies for focus and responsibility.

She teaches me that even the best leadership theories need to be adapted for a strong-willed child.

    2. The “Head of Negotiations” (My Son, 2)

He is currently in charge of testing safety gear, durability limits, and my stress levels. As you can see from the photos, he believes noodles are a food group and that laundry baskets make excellent hats.

    What You Will Find Here

I am not just another parenting blogger. I am an educator. My goal is to help you raise future leaders while keeping your own life organized. Here is how I break it down:

    • Child Development & Confident Kids: Moving beyond “because I said so.” I share research-backed strategies for handling tough behaviors—from toddler biting to 8-year-old attitude—to help you raise emotionally intelligent humans.
    • Family Logistics: How to manage your home like an efficient organization. I apply project management principles to morning routines, chores, and mealtime (so you can actually drink your coffee while it’s hot).
    • Learning Tools: Honest reviews of the gear that survives my “Research Team.” From setting up a study corner to finding open-ended toys, I only recommend tools that add value, not clutter.

    A Note on Expertise

While I am a Professor of Education/HRD, I am not a pediatrician, psychologist, or safety expert. My advice comes from my academic background in leadership and my real-life experience as a dad. Please always supervise your own ‘research team’ closely.

Thank you for visiting my class… I mean, my home.
